Radiesse for Deep Facial Folds & Creases
Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler that restores a natural, youthful look and the duration of results from Radiesse injections vary among patients but generally last up to two years in many patients. Radiesse is pliable soft tissue filler that molds itself to fit wherever it is placed. Radiesse has also been found to have excellent ability to fill in deep wrinkles of the face. Radiesse works best as filler for deep nasolabial folds, marionette lines at the corner of the mouth, smile lines, and frown lines. Unlike collagen treatments, treatment with Radiesse can be done without the need of an allergic skin test. This filler rebuilds your skin’s foundation by forming a “scaffold” of tiny calcium-based microspheres that support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. It has worked especially well for filling in deep acne scars, facial defects, and depressions under and around sunken or hollow looking eyes. Initial injection followed by touch-up in one month is recommended. Bopp Dermatology & Facial Plastic Surgery is a participant in many Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO). We automatically file claims for all insurance companies. But if your health insurance requires a referral to a specialist office, please contact your primary care physician to set up the referral prior to your appointment. We will then contact your insurance carrier after your visit for any necessary authorizations.
How Radiesse Treatments Work
Radiesse is typically injected with lidocaine using a fine needle at several points along the treated area. Once injected it can be molded and massaged into position by Dr. Barbara Bopp if needed. Any redness at the injection site that may occur tends to disappear within 24 hours. Some patients prefer an injection of a local anesthetic around the area to be treated to minimize any discomfort. Dr. Barbara Bopp can discuss this option with you to decide if it is necessary. Immediately after treatment a cool ice pack is given to help ease the area and you may have some bruising or swelling that may occur, but it is usually minor. Cold compresses can be used often throughout the day to decrease swelling and bruising, the first hour after treatment is the most important. We also have a product here called Arnika Forte tablets if interested can be purchased the day of your treatment. Arnika Forte gel is a topical product that can also be purchased at the office that can help decrease bruising. You are free to eat, drink, and apply makeup soon after treatment. Lastly please avoid alcohol for 48 hours prior to treatment.
