Heads Up Program

Welcome to Bopp Dermatology's "Heads Up" program, a groundbreaking program designed to leverage the expertise of hair stylists in the early detection of skin cancer. This initiative, led by Dr. Barbara Bopp, underscores our commitment to comprehensive skin health and the proactive prevention of skin cancer.

Empowering Hair Stylists

Hair stylists are often the first to notice changes on the scalp and neck, areas frequently hidden from the patient’s view. Through the "Heads Up" program, we provide specialized training to hair stylists, enabling them to identify suspicious lesions and skin changes that may indicate the presence of skin cancer. This training covers the ABCDEs of melanoma detection – Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, and Evolving – critical signs that warrant further examination by a dermatologist.

Collaborative approach

Dr. Bopp recently discussed the importance of this program on WVUE Fox 8, highlighting how this collaborative approach can lead to earlier detection and treatment of skin cancers. By involving hair stylists in this vital health check, we can significantly increase the chances of catching skin cancer in its early stages, when it is most treatable. This initiative is part of our broader mission at Bopp Dermatology to integrate preventive care into everyday routines and environments.

Comprehensive Skin Health

At Bopp Dermatology, we offer a full spectrum of dermatologic and cosmetic services aimed at maintaining and enhancing your skin health. From routine full body checks to advanced treatments like Sculptra Aesthetics for collagen production and CoolSculpting for body contouring, our goal is to address both the medical and aesthetic needs of our patients. We believe in treating the whole person – physically, emotionally, and spiritually – to promote overall well-being and youthful skin

Join the Program! We invite hair stylists and salon owners to join the "Heads Up" program and become part of this life-saving network. By working together, we can make a significant impact on community health and potentially save lives through early detection of skin cancer. Dr. Barbara Bopp and Fox 8 News discussed a new program where hair stylists are trained to help detect early signs of skin cancer in their clients. This program aims to leverage the unique position of hair stylists, who can observe parts of the scalp and neck that clients might not see themselves. By recognizing suspicious lesions, stylists can advise their clients to seek professional medical evaluation, potentially leading to early diagnosis and better treatment outcomes.
